Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
HeatShield Chimney Sweep in Las Vegas: What to Know First
HeatShield chimney sweep in Las Vegas runs $189 to $329 for most single-story homes, and we typically book within three to five business days. That price includes a full flue cleaning, a camera inspection of your HeatShield liner, and photos of everything we find. We’re an independent HeatShield service provider, which means we work on the system itself without being tied to manufacturer pricing or replacement-only recommendations.
If you own a home in Las Vegas with a HeatShield liner (or you’re not sure whether you do), this page covers how those systems hold up in the desert, what we look for during a sweep, what it costs, and what actually needs fixing versus what can wait. Want a written quote before we touch anything? Call (725) 600-0308 and a live person answers, day or night.
How HeatShield Products Fail, and How We Fix Them
HeatShield is a ceramic repair compound applied to the inside of a flue, not a standalone liner. That distinction matters. In Las Vegas, where we swing from 110-degree summers to wood-burning evenings in December, the thermal expansion and contraction is real. Here’s what we actually see on HeatShield jobs in the valley.
- Flaking at the smoke shelf on HeatShield Cease-Fire applications. The smoke shelf takes direct heat and creosote splash. On older HeatShield Cease-Fire jobs, we often find the compound separating at the edges where it meets the original clay tile. Our fix: remove loose material, prep the substrate, and reapply a compatible ceramic compound, then camera-verify the bond before we call it done.
- Hairline cracks reappearing in the firebox after HeatShield FireGuard treatment. HeatShield FireGuard is designed for firebox repair, and it works well, but if the underlying firebrick shifts (common in Las Vegas homes built on expansive soil), the crack transfers through the compound. We don’t just re-smear the surface. We check for movement, stabilize the brick, then repair the FireGuard layer so you’re not chasing the same crack every season.
- Third-stage creosote buildup on HeatShield Cerfractory flue seals. HeatShield’s Cerfractory foam seals gaps, but it doesn’t stop creosote from forming. If you burn unseasoned wood or run fires low and slow, third-stage creosote (the hard, shiny tar glaze) can coat the sealed surface. That’s the type that chimney fires feed on. We remove it with rotary brushes and chemical treatments rated safe for ceramic-lined flues.
- Seam separation on HeatShield Joint Repair System applications. The Joint Repair System targets the gaps between clay tile sections. In Las Vegas, the problem is dry heat: mortar shrinks, tiles shift, and the repaired joint can open again. We inspect every joint with a camera during your sweep and reseal any separation we find, using material compatible with what’s already in place.
- Staining and discoloration that makes owners think the liner failed. This one’s a misdiagnosis we see often. Brown or black staining on a HeatShield-treated flue is usually surface creosote, not a structural failure. We’ll show you the camera footage, explain the difference, and clean it properly. If the liner is actually compromised, we’ll tell you that too, with the photos to prove it.

Our HeatShield Chimney Sweep Process
Here’s exactly what happens when you book a HeatShield chimney sweep with Hadley Chimney Las Vegas.
- 1
Book by phone. Call (725) 600-0308. A live person answers, asks about your fireplace type and when the last sweep happened, and locks in a tracked arrival window.
- 2
We arrive and prep. Our tech shows up in uniform, lays drop cloths, and runs a HEPA-filtered vacuum throughout the job. Your floors stay clean.
- 3
Level 1 or Level 2 inspection first. We assess the flue before sweeping. If you’ve had a chimney fire, bought the home recently, or suspect damage, we recommend Level 2, which includes camera inspection of the entire flue interior.
- 4
Creosote and soot removal. We use rotary brushes matched to your flue size, plus hand brushing where the HeatShield surface requires a gentler touch. Third-stage creosote gets a chemical treatment safe for ceramic compounds.
- 5
Camera verification. After cleaning, we run the camera again. You see the before-and-after. If we find cracks, seam separation, or failing HeatShield material, you get photos and a written repair quote on the spot.
- 6
Report and guarantee. You get a digital invoice with photo documentation, and any repair we do carries a 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if it fails within a year, we come back and fix it free.

AfterWhat HeatShield Chimney Sweep Costs in Las Vegas
Straight numbers, because nobody likes surprises at the door.
- Standard HeatShield chimney sweep (Level 1 inspection + creosote removal): $189 to $289 for a single-story home with one flue. Two-story homes or steep roof pitches add $40 to $75.
- Sweep with Level 2 camera inspection: $279 to $379. This is what we recommend for HeatShield-lined flues, since the camera is the only way to verify the ceramic surface is intact.
- Third-stage creosote removal (heavy tar glaze): $329 to $429, including chemical treatment. This takes longer and burns through more brushes.
- HeatShield patch or joint repair (small areas): $150 to $350, depending on access and surface area. Larger firebox FireGuard work runs higher, usually $450 to $900.
What moves the price: roof access, two-story homes, heavy creosote, and whether the fireplace has gas logs or inserts that need removal first. You’ll get a written price before any work starts. Call (725) 600-0308 for an exact quote, free. We’re happy to walk you through it over the phone.

We also work with other trusted chimney product lines including DuraFlex and Gelco, so if your flue needs a different approach than HeatShield repair, we’re not stuck stocking one solution.
Cory Mitchell, the owner, learned the chimney trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College and has led the Hadley crew serving the Las Vegas Valley for well over a decade. He’s known for one thing: texting homeowners a photo of what he finds inside the firebox before quoting a dollar amount. As he puts it, “I’d rather show you the photo and explain it straight than leave you guessing what’s going on up there.”
FAQs
No. HeatShield is a repair compound, not a manufactured product with an active owner warranty in most cases, and regular sweeping does not void any remaining coverage. Actually, skipping sweeps causes the creosote buildup that breaks down ceramic surfaces over time. We sweep in a way that’s compatible with HeatShield materials, and we document the flue condition with camera footage before and after. Call (725) 600-0308 and we’ll explain what’s safe for your specific setup.
Once a year if you burn wood more than a few times per season, and every two years at minimum for gas fireplaces. Las Vegas winters are mild, but the fires you do burn tend to be short and hot, which creates a different creosote profile than slow overnight burns in colder cities. An annual sweep with camera inspection catches seam separation early, before it becomes a fire risk or a bigger repair.
Yes, and this is where the camera earns its keep. We inspect the entire flue interior and show you the footage. Surface staining is usually just creosote and cleans right off. Actual structural issues, like compound delamination or cracks that go through the original clay tile behind the HeatShield layer, may require replacement. We’ll show you the evidence and give you a written quote either way. No scare tactics, just the photos.
For standard HeatShield chimney sweeps, we typically schedule within three to five business days. If you’re dealing with an active leak, a chimney fire you just experienced, or visible smoke entering the home, call (725) 600-0308 right away and we’ll work you in sooner. Our dispatch tracks arrival times live, so you’ll know exactly when the tech shows up.
