Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Gelco Chimney Repair in Las Vegas: What to Know First
We repair Gelco chimney systems throughout Las Vegas, with most jobs completed in a single visit. A standard repair runs roughly $350 to $1,900 depending on what the camera shows us, and you’ll have a written price before we touch anything. If you own a home with a Gelco chimney or fireplace system and you’ve spotted cracked brick, water stains, or mortar that’s turning to sand, call (725) 600-0308 and we’ll get you a straight answer.
This page is for Las Vegas homeowners who need their Gelco system evaluated honestly. We’re an independent Gelco service provider, not a manufacturer affiliate. That means we tell you what’s actually failing, whether it’s a Gelco part issue or something the desert did to your masonry.
How Gelco Products Fail, and How We Fix Them
- Gelco GC Series mortar joints eroding faster than the brick itself. Las Vegas sees maybe four inches of rain a year, but the UV and thermal swing are brutal. On Gelco GC-series chimneys, we regularly see the mortar joints lose their binder before the brick shows any wear. The fix is tuckpointing: we grind out the failed joint to a consistent depth and repack it with a mortar matched to the original compressive strength. Pack it too hard and you spall the brick next summer.
- Spalling on Gelco ceramic-lined flues after a water intrusion event. When flashing fails at the roofline, water tracks down the chase and sits against the liner. Gelco’s ceramic liner sections handle heat fine, but absorbed water plus a cold January night in Summerlin equals freeze-thaw cracking. We replace the damaged liner sections and correct the flashing so the repair actually holds.
- Gelco chimney cap rust-through at the mounting legs. We see this on the older GC and GCX lineups more than anything. Gelco caps are galvanized, but years of monsoon-season damp plus creosote acids will eat the legs where they fasten to the crown. A cap that looks fine from the ground is often hanging on by one bolt. We replace with a current Gelco cap or a Copperfield equivalent if the chase dimensions are non-standard.
- Firebox panel separation on Gelco prefab fireplaces. If you have a Gelco factory-built fireplace, the refractory panels inside the firebox can pull away from the metal shell after seasons of thermal cycling. That gap lets heat reach the framing, which is not where heat belongs. We reset or replace the panels and inspect the firebox shell for warping before closing it up.
- Chase top rust-out above the roofline. The chase top on a Gelco chase system catches everything: rain, sun, bird droppings. Once the metal rusts through, water drops straight into the chase. We fabricate and install a replacement chase top with proper drainage and a new storm collar around the flue pipe. This is one of the most common Gelco repairs we do in the Las Vegas Valley, and one of the most preventable.

Our Gelco Chimney Repair Process
- 1
You call (725) 600-0308. A live person answers, books your visit, and gives you a real arrival window – not a four-hour guess.
- 2
We diagnose with a camera. Before we discuss price, we run a camera up the flue and document what we find. Cory Mitchell’s standing rule on the crew: nobody quotes a repair until the owner has seen the photo.
- 3
Parts decision. If it’s a Gelco part and the warranty is still active, we tell you and you work through the manufacturer if you choose. If it’s out of pocket, we price both OEM Gelco and quality aftermarket options and let you decide based on the actual numbers, not what’s easiest for us.
- 4
Written price before work starts. The quote covers parts, labor, and cleanup. No surprise charges at the door. If you approve, we repair it that visit in most cases.
- 5
We test and document. After the repair, we run the camera again and show you the before-and-after. You get the photos as part of your digital invoice, which you can pay from your phone.
- 6
365-day guarantee. Every repair has our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right. If the repair fails within the year, you get a free second visit. It’s written on every invoice, not hidden in a brochure.

FAQs
We’re an independent service provider, so any Gelco manufacturer’s warranty claim goes through Gelco’s own process. What we do is diagnose the failure with camera documentation you can see, then tell you whether the part is likely covered. From there you decide whether to pursue the warranty or have us repair it directly, and we’ll give you numbers for both paths. Call (725) 600-0308 for a straight answer.
Most Gelco chimney components – caps, chase tops, refractory panels, storm collars – are available locally or within a few days through our supply channels in Las Vegas. We keep common Gelco-compatible parts on hand, and for anything specialized we quote you the timeline before you approve the work. In most cases, the repair happens in a single visit.
If the chase and flue structure are sound, repair is almost always the better call, and we’ll tell you that with the camera footage to back it. We recommend replacement only when the structural steel, the liner, or the firebox shell has failed to the point where repairing it would be a temporary patch. And we’ll show you the photos that explain why before we ever ask you to decide.
We book most repair visits within a few days, and we show up in a tracked arrival window with a background-checked technician. If there’s active water intrusion, we’ll work to get you in sooner. Call (725) 600-0308 and a live person will book you – no voicemail loop, no callback queue.
