Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Famco Chimney Sweep in Las Vegas: What to Know First
A Famco chimney sweep in Las Vegas typically runs $189 to $329 for a standard cleaning and Level 1 inspection, and our crew completes most single-family jobs in about 90 minutes. We’re an independent Famco service provider, not a factory-authorized shop, so we fix what’s actually wrong using OEM parts when they’re the right call and proven aftermarket alternatives when they’re not. This page is for Las Vegas homeowners with a Famco chimney, fireplace, or venting system who want to know what a sweep involves, what it costs, and what a technician should actually be looking for.

How Famco Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
Famco builds solid chimney and venting components, but two-plus decades in Las Vegas attics and on Las Vegas rooftops teach you exactly where each line shows its age. Here’s what we actually see on Famco jobs in this valley:
- Famco galvanized chimney caps lose their mesh to desert UV, not rust. Las Vegas sun bakes the galvanizing off Famco’s standard caps faster than you’d think, and once the coating fails, monsoon rains do the rest. The mesh screen tears first, letting birds and pack rats into the flue. We replace with a heavier-gauge aftermarket cap that holds its coating, and we’ll show you the photo of the old one before anything gets ordered.
- The Famco swivel collar on older B-vent liners seizes up after years of heat cycling. When the swivel collar won’t rotate, the vent can’t shift with the roof as it expands and contracts, which stresses the storm collar and flashing. Once that flashing gets a gap, water follows the vent down into the chase. We free or replace the collar, re-silicone the storm collar, and re-flash if the seal is shot.
- Famco’s snap-together vent pipe joints on direct-vent gas fireplaces collect soot unevenly. Direct-vent systems burn clean, but Las Vegas dust plus the occasional spider nest in the intake can cause a lazy flame that deposits carbon on one side of the pipe. That’s a sign of incomplete combustion, not a dirty fireplace. We sweep the vent, check the burner’s air shutter, and verify your air intake is clear before anyone assumes the fireplace needs replacing.
- Rooftop Famco termination caps on wood-burning chimneys get creosote-glazed, not just creosote-dusty. Wood fireplaces in Las Vegas get run hard during late fall and winter, then sit cold all summer. The creosote left behind hardens into a glaze that a standard brush won’t touch. On Famco terminations with tight baffle plates, that glaze restricts draft and drives smoke back into the house. We use a rotary whip attachment sized to the cap’s opening to break that glaze loose without damaging the baffles.
- Famco fuel-oil vent connectors in older Las Vegas homes suffer from lagging condensate drainage. This is less common in the Las Vegas Valley now, but homes built before 1990 sometimes still have Famco barometric dampers and horizontal vent connectors for oil-fired furnaces. When condensate pools in a low spot and the vent was always a little too long, you get soot, corrosion, and eventually a pinhole leak. We inspect the horizontal run, re-pitch where possible, and replace the connector section if it’s compromised.

Our Famco Chimney Sweep Process
Here’s what happens when you book a Famco sweep with us, step by step, so nothing about the visit is a surprise:
- 1
You call, you talk to a person. We book a two-hour arrival window, and you get live tracking the morning of the job so you can see exactly when our technician is pulling up. No four-hour guessing game.
- 2
We protect the floor before anything starts. Canvas drop cloths go down in front of the fireplace, and our vacuum runs through the whole sweep so we’re not just pushing dust around your living room.
- 3
We photograph the firebox and flue before we touch anything. You’ll see what we see: creosote type and thickness, soot depth, any cracked refractory panels, any liner damage. If there’s nothing worth sweeping, we’ll tell you that and save you the money.
- 4
We sweep or rotary-whip based on what the creosote actually is. Stage 1 or 2 creosote gets a properly sized brush. Stage 3 glaze gets the rotary whip with the flail attachment. The tool matches the problem, not the other way around.
- 5
We run a camera inspection and send you the photos. Every sweep includes before-and-after photo documentation. If the camera finds a cracked flue tile, a failing liner, or a rusted damper, you’ll see the image before we ever say the word “repair.”
- 6
We leave you with a written report and a written price for anything that needs follow-up. No verbal “you should really think about this” upsell. If a fix is needed, the price is on paper before anyone picks up a tool for repair work.

AfterWhat Famco Chimney Sweep Costs in Las Vegas
Most Famco chimney sweeps in Las Vegas fall between $189 and $329 for a standard cleaning with a Level 1 inspection on a single-flue home. That price goes up when the flue is glazed with Stage 3 creosote and needs rotary cleaning, which typically runs $249 to $399 because of the extra labor and tooling. Two-story roofs or steep pitches on Las Vegas hillside homes in places like Summerlin and Anthem add $50 to $100 for staging and safety setup. If the sweep turns up a damaged Famco cap or a failed storm collar, cap replacement usually lands at $125 to $225 parts and labor, and a storm collar re-seal is around $90 to $150.

Why Las Vegas Homeowners Call Hadley Chimney Las Vegas for Famco Work
We started in 2003, and Cory Mitchell learned the trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College before building the crew that’s been working Las Vegas Valley rooftops for well over a decade. Every repair we make carries a written 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right, and that includes a free second visit if the repair fails. Our technicians are background-checked and uniformed, and you get live arrival tracking, before-and-after photos, and a digital invoice on every single visit under The Relay Visibility Guarantee. We work with DuraFlex liner systems, HeatShield repair compound, and Gelco sealants as well as Famco components, so when a Famco part isn’t the right fix, we recommend whichever brand actually solves the problem and stand behind it the same way.
FAQs
No. Famco’s warranties on venting components cover manufacturing defects, not maintenance neglect, and a documented professional cleaning actually protects your warranty position if a component ever fails. We note the sweep and any findings in your written report, which is exactly what a manufacturer asks for if a claim comes up.
Our standard booking window for a Famco chimney sweep in Las Vegas is usually within 3 to 7 days, with faster availability outside October through February. If you’ve got a smoke or drafting issue, tell the person who answers the phone and we’ll often work you in sooner, especially when a fireplace is puffing smoke into the house.
Yes, when the part is still made by Famco and it’s the right spec for the job. Some older Famco caps and collars are discontinued, and for those we use aftermarket parts that match or exceed the original gauge and coating, and we tell you which one is going on before we order it. The photo you get before the repair shows exactly what we’re replacing.
You get a camera image of the flue before we recommend either one. If we can’t show you the creosote, a crack, or a rusted collar, we don’t ask you to pay for a fix. A sweep is for combustible buildup; a repair is for structural or sealing failures, and the photos make the call obvious.
Yes. If your home has a DuraFlex liner, a HeatShield repair, or Gelco-sealed flashing alongside Famco components, we handle all of it on one visit so you’re not scheduling multiple companies. The report you receive covers everything we inspected, regardless of brand.
